The job market offers very little in terms of worth, the only worth is in the salaries, which due to inlfation or demand, don’t cover most peoples costs of living, even if their consumer desires are moderate. You need at least 3 figure salary to live somewhat comfortable in the world, unless you want to go off the grid and simplify your life. Since most people don’t they take what they can get and have to tredge through tedium ad nauseum.
Again, whining right? Be happy with a job. Suck it up. Well that’s not really going to help anyone is it? I mean we should all be striving for something better, something greater, something with more meaning and fullfillment to our lives. When you’re young you really don’t care about that crap – you don’t think you’ll ever get caught doing something lame for years and years, until it happens, and you end up in a trance, wondering where the years went, and what you got out of it. No longer an actual human, but a sleep deprived, un-motivated, walking corpse with no purpose except to just suck it up and keep doing what you’re doing. You don’t want to be a quitter right?
Once upon a time, a man’s job was his identity, a sense of pride and accomplishment, even if it was a blue collar one – there was hard work, sense of accomplishment, and sense of purpose, a connection to his company and customers, and community – modern day jobs stip all of those away and leave a bare cupboard behind.
