What’s actually happening today, is fewer people are marrying. This drop is most dramatic with White Women. Those few that do marry are educated and choosing now educated men like them. That’s actually a good thing for a small minority of White Women. The rest…..they are lost.
You end up with a society where 40% of women are now having children out of wedlock. Whether you see that as good or bad, doesn’t matter. Its a statistical fact. What does that imply?
It implies that both men and women have abandoned traditional relationships of their grandparents generation, and like their parents (the Baby Boomers) are choosing to experiment with new types of sexual encounters, group love, and non-traditional child-raising. Its too early to say whether this implies some alpha male gorilla societal mating association is going on. Personally with 300 Million Americans free to marry and divorce, and have sex with whomever they want and meeting via their mobile phones, I don’t think you can say that’s true.
What’s really happening is more about women and men now having almost equal access to jobs, security, resources, and sexual relationships. The Web is surely enhancing that. that means men of “low” or “high” mating status in the eyes of women are also having equal access to women of all mating qualities.
